Metal and Minds

Metal, a name so badass even the manliest of men wouldn’t even dare tread on the borderlines of metaldom. Let’s just put it like this, if there is a country named Hell would you even have the guts to step into it? That’s what metal is (sort of), and that’s why a lot of people don’t listen to it.

To elaborate further, I’ll use myself as an example. Years ago, I myself too wouldn’t listen to metal. Why, you may ask? CAUSE IT’S SO FUCKING DANGEROUS!! Metal is like beating a man in his sleep and jerking off on his corpse after that. Well, that part isn’t necessary but it’s there just to help you imagine how badass metal is. Metal itself screams threat and menace. Metal is hard, metal is solid, it’s sometimes gray or black. It just gives you a scary feeling which will make you avoid it. That’s what I did.

What I’m trying to imply is, a lot of people don’t even try to listen to metal cause they think it’s about killing people and masturbation at mosh pits. I remember there was once when Malaysian newspapers were all about black metal fans joining cults and shit. Or something like that. So I decided the best thing to do is generalize the genre as screaming music with no musical sense at all (also about killing dogs for sacrificial purposes). All of this because of the black metal shit. And also fucking Slipknot. Well yeah, they’re not death metal but damn they are one big bunch of ugly motherfuckers with those masks on.

Skip right to early 2008, I started listening to metal thanks to Vincent. I have no idea why I started listening because of him but I know he had something to do with it. At that time, the name Megadeth and Pantera sounded like a very matter of fact metal name so I started with them. Kinda gave me a good impression, Walk is fucking cool with its anthemic riffs.. Symphony of Destruction has a good riff too. Dave Mustaine’s vocals sounded like pigs squealing in butcher factories but it slowly grew on me.

With Megadeth and Pantera out of the way, I dwelled further back into the archives of metal and found out that Megadeth and Pantera are classified as “Trash Metal”. Okay, trash = rubbish so if the worst of metal satisfied my musical taste, so there must be more to metal, right? If you knew me, there was never really a question. I was right, there are more to metal. So I started listening to Black Sabbath and Ozzy Osbourne who are classified as “Heavy Metal”. I was dreadfully disappointed though, cause I thought heavy metal should be more.. uh… ???metaller??? than Megadeth. I swear, the first time I heard Crazy Train I thought it’s fucking country music when the verse came in.

To conclude, after my experience with metal I’ve decided to only hate a band only after I listen to its music. Fuck yeah I don’t expect those Taiwanese pop-loving from my hometown to start headbanging at night markets and shopping malls cause I know some people really don’t like metal even after listening to it. But hey, what IF you will come to like metal? What IF it opens doors to new musical realms you have yet to discover? I know metal did for me, and I’m glad I listened.

Oh yeah by the way, listen to this (there's a neat little solo at the end).
RUCK YO BAH SAY!!!!

Buy This Shit

You see, the thing is I wouldn’t stoop that low and tell you to “Support Local Music.” Rather than that, I’ll tell you, support good music made by talented people. I can’t even remember when was it that I bought an album by a local artist (sure there are some good shit that I've missed out). The last band with a catchy song that I honestly liked is Hujan, what what gelap song. Other than that, Enstranged's Yang Pernah can also qualify as a great modern rock track. Oh yeah, one band that can definitely top them is Ocean of Fire (but that’s just because I listen to alotta instrumental guitar shit). Nice guitar work, but nothing TOO technical. What I really liked about the album is the songwriting, nicely composed melody all around.

With all that said, let’s get straight to the point. BUY THIS SHIT cause I ALREADY DID.

Valentine's Day Massacre

Once again, I find cupids peeking through the corner at me, snickering with those shit eating grin on their face laughing at me for being lonely. They thought to themselves, “What can a harmless boy do to us?” And oh boy they thought wrong, that’s for sure.

I lunged at them Bruce Lee style and dispatched the first cupid with just one kick while spontaneously ripping him another new asshole. The other one tried to run away but I hastily grabbed hold of his right ankle just in time. And proceeded to dismember him with my supersized member. Devastating. I stood before his dead body for a second or two and proclaimed myself awesome.

By the time I completed admiring my godlike abilities, the last cupid has already flown out the window. The gears of shame are starting to spin and I had no choice but to rely on my last resort. I put my head down low and remained still. I then prayed to Paul Gilbert. Some might call it a coincidence, but a plane flew by and knocked that cupid down to earth at the speed of pain. You see, this is the difference between you and me, because I called that an answered prayer.

Without further ado, I took out my kyanon and belted out arguably the greatest song in the history of shred ever, Viking Kong (I wanted to play Queen’s We Are The Champion but the religion of Gilbertology prohibits me from doing so). Just cause I’m cool like Vikings and have a gigantic member like King Kongs. People walking on the pavement stood there with disgusted faces by I know they’re just jealous. I bet my lunch they constantly sit on the plastic chair in their room, filming their damned self playing their shitty cover of Paul’s songs with their shitty webcam and post it up on youtube.

Okay okay, now that I’ve truthfully told you what do I do on a daily basis, it’s time to get to the point of the post. A friend reminded me that Valentine’s Day is just around the corner. Did he end up like the cupids? Well, he got a guaranteed tidal wave of FUCKS with cleverly inserted nudges on his MSN messenger. Hmph that’ll show him. Anyway, I’ll be spending Valentines with this girl.

And then sing this song with her.

GEE GEE GEE GEE BABY BABY BABY!!

Audiovolution (The Link Flood)

The gap between the 7th of January and today without any doubt proves that I’m the definitive master of procrastination and being lazy. This attitude has definitely taken its toll on me, education wise.. since I’ve not been improving in my studies, only my guitar playing and my innate ability to home in to hot chicks in a matter of nanoseconds while walking around in shopping malls. For this post, I have coined the term audiovolution (sounds cool, right? Do notify me if there is such word out there) in order to chart my musical tastes throughout my life. Each age span will be accompanied by youtube links to give you an idea of what they sound like. Yes I know, I know. Some of you might be bitching about how much of a hypocrite I am for writing stuff about myself cause I’ve mentioned in the first post that I won’t do that. Whatever the fuck la.. let’s just begin.

Age 1–4
My parent’s singing. Yes that’s it. Remember the time whenever you go to your aunt or uncle’s house who just had a newborn in the family? And they always try to sing lullabies and shit to their kids even though they don’t know how to? Yeap, that’s what I’m talking about. If it ain’t obvious enough, I have not developed whatever sort of musical taste so I like whatever that’s shoved into my ears.

Age 5-9
This was a time when Looney Tunes, Happy Harmonies and Disney’s Silly Symphonies was the shit. I watch Looney Tunes for their eccentric cartoon characters and the songs they sing.. wait, they do belt out songs in the middle of scenes like Bollywood movies, right? More importantly, I almost always watch Happy Harmonies whenever they’re on TV. Roughly around 10 minutes, I think Happy Harmonies is the series that gave me I head start in appreciating the beauty of vocal harmony. Silly Symphonies, I watch for its interpretation of children’s classics, there are some vocal stuff in there but not much.

Age 10-13
MTV started forcing itself into young mind’s life and everyone started watching it. It is also around this time boybands are thought to be the coolest thing to ever hit the planet, at least for primary school kids. During this time I listened to lots and lots of boybands, my favourites being Backstreet Boys, Boyzone, 911, Westlife and Moffatts. Forget 98 Degrees and Hanson, even a kid like me knows they suck. Looking back, my only saving grace is that I was a big big fan of Michael Jackson that time. Found that I sing to his songs in the bathroom all the time, much to the chagrin of family members.

Age 14-15
If there are two words to describe these two years, the only two words I can think of right now is NU METAL. Linkin Park, Limp Bizkit, Staind and P.O.D. Even went out to buy some of their albums. I still remember the last track of Limp Bizkit’s Chocolate Starfish and Hotdogs has this repeats of Fred laughing and it scared the shit out of me. Though it’s the devil’s music or something -_- Also, I’ve started listening to a bit of rap around this time, generally Eminem though.

Age 16
Pop punk all the way here. The usual stuff such as Greenday, NOFX, Jimmy Eat World, Fenix TX, Descendants. One important note though, I find myself deeply infatuated with Blink 182. There was something about them that I could relate to so obviously they were on the top of my list at that time. Picked up the guitar after listening to them too. Hmm, if I’m not mistaken I’ve also started listening to my favourite modern rock band, The Vines but sadly, I didn’t pay much attention to them.. yet.

Age 17-20.5
Only one word here to define my musical taste here, “THE”. If it’s not obvious enough, I started listening to bands starting with “THE” in their name. each of them brought something new to the table for me so in order to make things simple, I’ll list them out rather than explaining in sentences.
The Vines – SUPER DEEP APPRECIATION of vocal harmony, exquisite display of rock'n'roll, where i got my drug addict look from
The Strokes – twin guitar riffs
The White Stripes – found my way back to blues through them
The Beatles – my favourite of ALL “THE” bands. First song that I liked is “While My Guitar Gently Weeps.” Unlimited influences from them, even until now. Great vocal harmony, songwriting.. aiyah the usual stuff lah, they’re great in everything except techno and songs that go BOOM BOOM BOOM for minutes.
The Thrills – got to know surf rock through them. Great melodies
The Libertines - post punk, great songwriting, great melodies that are unquestionable. Listening to them made me realize that even if you play shitty guitar you can be great too. In addition, they taught me avoid is spelt without a D. I used to spell avoid with aDvoid.. yeah I know, it’s stupid -_-
There a lot more but these are the chief “THE” bands that I like.

Age 20.5–now
Discovered metal through my musical confidant, Vincent. He listens to metal a lot so I started listening along. The memory of my first heavy metal band eludes me but I think it should probably be… Megadeth? Either Megadeth or Pantera. Then we’ve got guitar music(instrumental guitar) like Paul Gilbert, Joe Satriani, Steve Vai blablabla this that just go check them out yourself la.

Okay I’d like to thank whoever made it this far. Fuck, even I believe I’m entitled to a privilege to go on leave for 3 fucking weeks cause this post is just too damn long. I already cropped some bands and people out of it to make it shorter without making it irrelevant but it’s still.. as of now, 961 words and counting. Sorry to all those bands that I didn’t mention. GAPNAP ARE YOU HAPPY OR NOT, A POST THIS FUCKING LONG!!!!!!! Have fun listening and…. Agebi agebi agebi agebi, that's all folks!

Expressions

each one of us has expressions that we honestly hate, or get annoyed at. you know, those that when you hear it, you just need to stop everything you're doing and use your whole body to hate the speaker. you just instantly become a hate machine when you hear those words or phrases. in this post, i'll state some of expressions that i find to be poorly thought out and makes no sense at all, whenever they're used at the inappropriate time.

Non-conformist
there are a few popular of minorities that absolutely looove to use this specifically goths and hippies (it doesn't apply to the emo group now since almost every fucking teenager calls themselves emo thanks to my chemical romance and the likes of it). most of the time, they just want to think of themselves as cool pricks who don't conform to any social norms. but one thing these asshats don't realize is that even by not conforming to social norms, they are STILL conforming to whatever fucking trend that they're following now. unless you're the only one practicing whatever shit that it is you're practicing, you're an asshole in my book.

GG
now this is a popular one amongst gamers and internet geeks who leet speak. i have to get one thing out of the way first though, i have no beef with leet speak. but for fuck's sake, don't fucking bring leet speak to real life conversation cause most of the time it won't make any fucking sense. GG is an acronym for Good Game. unfortunately, its meaning have been distorted explicitly over the course of time. even in most games i don't say GG much because if i don't massacre my opponents, it's not a good game for me. here's a example on how the term/acronym GG is verbally abused in real life:-

A: hey have you studied for the exam tomorrow?
B: no ah, oh fuck what am i gonna do. this time i GG lo
A: (wtf you're good gamed?) ah.. okok.

conclusion: life is not a fucking game, go study or something.

Some things in life can't be bought.
Well fuck you, everyfuckingthing in life can be bought be it happiness, love, social life whatever there is. i'm sick of people, ESPECIALLY RICH ONES telling me, "oh sometimes i wish to rid myself of this wealth i have so that i don't have to face these (usually emotional) problems. you have emotional problems? take all your damn money and go see the psychiatrist or better yet, spend your money on "retail-therapy".

the only people who say money isn't everything is the people who have them. why? rich people don't think about what they'll do if they're poor, they don't cry at night worrying about how it'll feel like sleeping under the bridge or taking the bus, do they?. unlike us, we have our rich life all planned out. we already know what to buy and where to go when we're rich. we KNOW how it feels like to be poor. bottom of the line is, if you're rich.. it's fine. but if you go and say, "some of the things in life can't be bought" and acting like a pussy in front of me, fuck you.

In your own words
this is stupid. happens a lot in the classroom when the lecturer is questioning people. well, i don't really get this one. how am i supposed to use my own word when the words i'm using are basically the words everyone is using? am i not supposed to use the word you use? or am i supposed to come out with my own language in under 5 seconds? be as unintelligible as i can while getting to the point?

In my humble opinion
this one isn't that bad but it is often used inadequately by people who think too highly of themselves. no opinion is humble when you're trying to force your thought into somebody else's brain.

Let's just agree to disagree/ That is your opinion

to a certain extent, i don't find this one offensive too. but people cross the line when they use it just to save themselves from the humiliation they brought upon their sorry selves. it's like the ultimate cop-out phrases out there available. and it works everytime cause no one cared to re-examine these two illogical expressions. not only that, they say i'm trying to be a bad sport in arguments when i point it out. let me give you an example:-

A: hey Manchester is losing 10-0 to Barcelona, man.. they suck.
B: that's only your opinion...
A: i don't know but 10-0 looks kind of obvious that they do, doesn't it?
B: let's just agree to disagree, okay? you're being a bad sport :(

BB

BB, another acronym born out of the gaming world, IS. THE. MOTHER. OF. ALL. EXPRESSIONS THAT I HATE. for those of you who doesn't know, BB stands bye bye. yes, as if it wasn't simple enough, these motherfuckers just have to shorten it further and say BB. thankfully, this abomination of the english language has not crept into daily conversations but i highly doubt it will stay this way. the day i first saw BB in internet chatrooms was the day i lost hope in humanity. you're so damn lazy till you can't even appropriately say goodbye to a friend anymore? where's the fucking sincerity?

2008 and 2009

2008 has been somehow great for me. surely, it became a pinnacle in my life. i'll just summarize what i've done in 2008 in this post. other than that, aspirations for 2009. not goals (read: resolutions) though, at least i won't treat them as goals. you see, the problem with resolutions is that they usually get ignored halfway. remember when you swore to drink less booze and when the time came, you just said, "fuck it lah just one more shot." oh wait, you probably couldn't remember as you went home drunk out of your mind and passed out on the porch.

to be honest, the only thing that needs improvement in my life is my social network. after staying at home for most of my life, this has kind of taken a toll on my lifestyle. limited friends, no stuff to do, finding boring its boring self into my bored skull almost all of the time. but i'm glad to say that i did go out more this year compared to last year. most of these are carried out around july to december, after the beginning of my second year in computing (college).

let's see.. my friends from sarawak came for a "vacation" of some sort. well, it isn't exactly a vacation.. you can't take a break from taking a break, right? after all, i've been taking a break since before the beginning of time. i definitely haven't been seriously and consistently studying for more than 2 days except for public exams. i revised for pmr in a month's time... spm, same period. stpm.... 2 fucking weeks only -_-

ah fuck i digressed. anyway, me and friends went to the national zoo (ya i know it's fucking weird and old fashioned, but i will justify our plan by saying there were hot chicks there). went to genting too, still haven't tried the spaceshot thingy. i don't think i ever will though, too fucking scary la. ate at steven's corner. if you're from selangor and you haven't been there, i declare myself better than you all here. HOW CAN YOU NOT GO TO STEVEN'S CORNER JESUS IT'S SO NICE AND SOMEHOW CHEAP! i coined the term high-classed mamak the first time i got there. but that only applies to the setapak branch.

went to melaka too with two close friends and a bunch of strangers (friends who aren't that close to one of my close friends). nothing much to elaborate here, it wasn't my plan to tell the truth. me and my friends just tagged along as an excuse to just... go somewhere. i found out that they went to melaka just to find a friend who often takes bus/taxi rides to sunway to club with them. pretty stupid right? i've never seen anyone who needs to club sooo badly. furthermore, she stays in hotels.

i often complain about myself sitting in front of the computer a little too much (24/7) but ironically i found the holy temple of PJ shred (Music Master) through the internet. read about the guitar teacher (gapnap) from his personal website which can be found under the "good reads" section. i instantly decided he is the one and e-mailed him. started lessons at the beginning of november. to clarify, it isn't the lessons that i look forward to, it is the honor to meet players younger than me with twice my ability and just talk to them about music. i tend to place this higher than the lessons cause i have a social life that equates to.. almost zero. learning from gapnap as well as the others is great too, they've given me tips and advices that helps solidifying my confidence which has always taken a stand at a low point.

christmas eve was spent at home, playing dota over the internet with friends and complaining about how if the world doesn't suck, we'll all fall off the ground.. or do we fly, hmmm? new year's eve was better, spent the day helping the master carry his rig around (for his show at jaya one) albeit not much as my physical ability isn't that great (i blame my genetic shortcomings). it's still great to just be around and witness him work his magic (i will now proclaim "shredery", which is a combination of shred and sorcery as a term i coined first) throughout his show though. felt a bit left out sometimes but it's fine. these things take time, right? so all in all, it's all good.

that's about it. i guess it has been a good year, especially meeting gapnap and going on a weekly pilgrimage to PJ in a quest to hone my shredding ability. how was your year?

p.s. the new year's eve show was actually the first show of its kind that i've been to, that's why it's included up there.

p.p.s. i know the "how was your year" is kind of meaningless. even i myself won't reply to this kind of stuff. but i'm not indicating anything lah, reaaaally i speak of the truth reaaaaally.

MY Top 5 Hotties In 2008

notice the title? it says MY, as in my opinion. so if you disagree, you're wrong.. at least when you're still in this page. some of the girls here might be old news but what the heck, i just learnt to appreciate them this year.

#5 SARA UNDERWOOD

actually i don't find her hot at all. but man, that PGM is looking hot as hell. i often have the urge to just cum all over its sweet white body. and cuddle with her after the orgasmic sex talking about our future together. this is a universally accepted fact..... right?

#4 MISA CAMPO

look at that picture. fuck, look at her for 5 more minutes. if you tell me she isn't hot you have got some serious ass kicking to do, to yourself. misa is from the import scene. too bad she's bimbotic though. at least that's what she's marketing herself as, to me. otherwise she'll definitely rank higher.

#3 CHUN LI

the ONLY valid reason i'll accept for explaining why feminism is still around is CHUN LI. ever since street fighter II she's been kicking men's ass, displaying the ultimate "girl power" to humanity. forget celine dion, she's just a fucking cunt who sings love songs. chicks who sings love songs are actually discouraging feminism. dion the cunt is just showing how weak the female gender is and that's a big nono. besides, how can you resist those brown hair bun and spiked braces?! plus, she's a fucking police, tell me how hot is that.

#2 KEELEY HAZELL

KEELEY HAS IT ALL!!
1. long sexy legs, check
2. big natural boobs, check
3. looks, check
4. singlet that says england(kind of redundant, she'll look better without it), check
5. sex tape, check
6. willing to pose topless, check
7. has a colour, type of good AND nut for a name, check
8. pants, no check but who the fuck cares?
9. me, check (hey keeley i'm still waiting for your call)

#1 MONICA BELLUCI

the only reason why i'm still attending boring IT lectures is cause there's a monica lookalike in my class. not as hot. you can say she's a poor man's monica. monica is hands down the hottest chick walking on this earth right now. she manages to look hot in every movie she's in and is that even fucking possible?! even in the passion of the christ, she looked hot sobbing. mel gibson, next time when you decide to direct a religious film please don't place monica inside. all i could think about after the movie is monica, not christ. PLUS, she's born in the mid 60s. the reason why there's a hot 44 years old woman in this world is still eluding me, constantly leaving me in a baffled state whenever i decide to stalk her in youtube.

OTHER NOTEWORTHY MENTIONS

MARY ELIZABETH WINSTEAD

first saw her in final destination 3. BUT it was in "Sky High" that i was convinced that my role in this world is to write a "Mary Elizabeth Winstead Appreciation Post", which i have yet to do. blame procrastination, fuck it. furthermore, she plays as john mcclane's daughter in die hard 4, that alone spells h-o-t.

LEAH DIZON

if you're a teenager living in malaysia and have not heard of leah dizon. please follow these steps:

1. stand up and take a step back.
2. proceed to the toilet.
3. gently place your head inside the toilet bowl and flush yourself senseless.

she used to be my number 1 until i found out she's married and pregnant with her child. hmph, finally i caught you cheating behind my back. what a slut.

IRINA LAZAREANU

got to know her through her acquaintance with pete doherty, whom i absolutely loathe now. irina has this vintage rock 'n' roll look that i like, just look at those crack addict eyes, guitar and the ciggie she's holding. she's got no boobs but fuck you, i don't care. i'm not much of a boob guy anyway.

MEGAN FOX

no, i don't think she's hot at all but i seem to get those "are you gay" stares from friends whenever i decide to voice my opinion about her. fuck you all, i just think she's overrated which is why she's in this section.
